In our secondary school about 470 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and creative development of all learners.
  • Deliver lessons in accordance with plans and materials prepared by teaching colleagues, ensuring continuity of learning and effective classroom supervision.
  • Support students in completing assigned tasks by providing guidance, encouragement, and clarification where needed.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and mutual respect. 
  • Provide appropriate feedback to the regular subject teacher regarding student participation, progress, and any relevant concerns arising during lessons.
  • Develop caring and respectful relationships with learners that nurture confidence, curiosity, and independence.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, and parents through professional, respectful, and clear communication when required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a smooth and consistent learning experience during staff absence.
  • Liaise with learning support staff and school counsellors to meet the needs of individual learners where required.
  • Contribute positively to a professional culture based on teamwork, flexibility, and mutual support.
  • Share relevant observations with colleagues to support student learning and wellbeing.

Your profile

Educational Background
  • A University degree in Secondary Education, or comparable education.
  • Valid teaching license.
  • Eligibility to work in Germany without employer-sponsored authorization, as the 10-hour position does not meet the requirements for a work permit application
    • This includes: German citizenship, EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship, permanent residence permit, EU long-term residence permit, unrestricted residence permit with permission to work
